An informal reception will follow the graduation ceremony in the Fred Darling Auxiliary Gym.

9:15 a.m. - Candidates line up - Fred Darling Auxiliary Gym (Alumni Coliseum)

10:00 a.m. - Graduation Ceremony begins

AFTERNOON CEREMONY - for the following colleges: Arts & Sciences, and Business & Technology
2:15 p.m. - Candidates line up - Fred Darling Auxiliary Gym (Alumni Coliseum)
2:45 p.m. - Students begin marching. Pre-Commencement Concert begins at Alumni Coliseum
3:00 p.m. - Graduation Ceremony begins

An informal reception will follow each graduation ceremony in the Fred Darling Auxiliary Gym.

Do I need to get tickets for my guests?

Tickets are not required for candidates or their guests. All are welcome to celebrate this special day.

Is there a limit on the number of guests I can invite to Graduation?

No, there is no limit on the number of invited guests. Graduate Candidates are welcome to invite whomever they wish. EKU encourages graduates to enjoy this exciting day and to participate fully in all Graduation activities.

Where do I get Graduation Announcements?

Jostens is the vendor that provides personalized announcements. Personalized announcements take two weeks to be produced. The EKU Bookstore also has generic announcements for sale. Invitations, announcements and class rings can be ordered during GRAD-FEST or directly from Jostens via their web site at www.jostens.com.

What name appears on my diploma?

On your Graduation Application at the time you applied for Graduation you were asked to print your name just as you wanted your name to appear on your diploma and in the Commencement Program. Also, on the application you indicated the address where your diploma will be sent. If you have any doubts about the accuracy of this information confirm this information with the Administrative Assistant in your College.

When will I receive my Diploma?

Diplomas will be mailed out approximately six (6) to eight (8) weeks after graduation to those students who have successfully completed degree program requirements. A free copy of your official EKU transcript will be included.

When do I apply for graduation?

Applications for graduation can be obtained from the Administrative Assistant of your college. May and Summer graduates should apply for graduation by October 31. December graduates should apply by the end of April. If you have missed the deadline, please see the Administrative Assistant in your college dean's office.

Is there a graduation fee:

After you apply for Graduation with the Administrative Assistant in your college a Graduation fee of $20.00 for undergraduate and $40.00 for graduate-level students is charged to your account and payable to EKU at the cashier's window in Student Accounting Services.

Where do I get caps and gowns?

Caps, gowns, hoods for graduate students, and honors sashes can be picked up during GRAD-FEST. Summer 2008 GRAD-FEST will be on June 3rd and 4th from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Student Services Building. Fall 2008 GRAD-FEST will be on October 28th, 29th, and 30th in the Powell Building Lobby. Caps and gowns will not be mailed. It is the student's responsibility to make arrangements to procure their academic regalia.

Who is eligible to graduate with Honors?

Honors are given to students with the following GPA:

Associate Degrees

  • With Distinction 3.5 to 3.69
  • With High Distinction 3.7 to 4.0

Baccalaureate Degree

  • Cum Laude 3.5 to 3.69
  • Magna Cum Laude 3.7 to 3.89
  • Summa Cum Laude 3.9 to 4.0

For the purpose of honors recognition:

  1. All semester hours transferred to and attempted at EKU are included, and every repeated and bankrupted course is placed back into the GPA Honors calculation.
  2. Honors GPA calculation at the time of the graduation ceremony does not include the final semester's course work. University Honors on the diploma and final transcript will include the final semester's grades.
  3. Hours in-progress during the graduate candidate's final semester will be counted toward the 64 semester hours University Honors residency requirement.

What if I still have work "In-Progress"?

Students with work "In-Progress" or who have classes with grades of "Incomplete" will be allowed to to march in the Commencement Ceremony. However, all "In-Progress" work and "Incomplete" grades must be converted to official grades before degrees will be officially awarded.
