University Honors

University Honors are given to undergraduate students who have taken at least 32 EKU hours (Associate) or at least 64 hours (Baccalaureate) with the following adjusted GPA:

Associate Degrees
With Distinction 3.5 to 3.69
With High Distinction 3.7 to 4.0

Baccalaureate Degrees
Cum Laude 3.5 to 3.69
Magna Cum Laude 3.7 to 3.89
Summa Cum Laude 3.9 to 4.0

Determining University Honor eligibility:

  1. Calculation of adjusted GPA
All semester hours transferred to and attempted at EKU are included. Therefore, grades for every repeated or bankrupted course are considered for the GPA Honors calculation.
  2. Official University Honors awards
Honors recognized during the graduation ceremony do not include the final semester's course work, and are therefore un-official. Official University Honors on the diploma and final transcript will include the final semester's grades.
